Hair Styles: Blair or Serena?

If you are looking for a different way to wear your hair try out some of these suggestions from Marie Claire (UK):

'Rake back hair with your fingers and secure the pony on the crown. Then plait the tail, wind it around the base, secure with pins and leave the ends visible.'
'Twist small sections and pin to the head until you get to the nape of your neck.'
Another great place to find great hair styling tips is: B.Jones Style, she has great how-to videos for styling your hair. My favorite is the funky ponytail inspired by Gossip Girl's Blake Lively in Season 4.

Halloween Costume Idea

Very excited to start finding all the pieces to make my Halloween costume! I was inspired by the great 1988 movie, "Beetlejuice". When I first saw the movie I was a little kid, and certain parts of the movie use to be a little to scary for me, a la the sand monster. But now I can appreciate the subtle humor, and of course the great outfits. Miss Argentina, the receptionist in the waiting room with the slit wrist, is the perfect combination of fun, scary, and spicy for a Halloween costume. Below I have put together four easy steps to create the Miss Argentina outfit from the movie, "Beetlejuice".

Pumpkin Patch

With Halloween only a week away it was time to go and pick our pumpkin out from the pumpkin patch. Even though it was pretty warm, it really brought out the Halloween spirit seeing all the kids running around picking out their pumpkins. I'll be making a set pretty soon showing my pick for my Halloween costume this year, and I can't wait to show you all, so stay tune!

Meet & Greet with Tim Gunn from Project Runway

I used the word "serendipitous" today when I was chosen to ask a question during Tim Gunn's Q & A at Mall at Millenia's Lucky Brand Fashion Show, and that word pretty much sums up how the day went..." lucky in making an unexpected and fortunate discovery". I ran across the event posting on a website and from then on it was one "Lucky" moment after another! I was able to meet Tim, ask his advice on fashion, and have him sign his new book "Gunn's Golden Rules". For a loyal fan since Season 2 of Project Runway, and with my favorite scene of all time repeating in the back of my mind (where Santino pricelessly mimicks Tim and Andre and a fictional outing to Red Lobster.) when I heard Tim Gunn actually speaking to me it all felt, well, you got it "serendipitous".
If you haven't had a chance to go vote for my fashion design set at the Talbots blog you still have until Tuesday! You can vote for me here: http://redchairconfessions.com/polyvore/talbots-tradition-transformed-by-chicgiselle/ **To vote press the "Like" button!

Nordstrom Mother of the Bride Winner!

I think the song "I'm Walking On Sunshine" by Katrina & The Waves should be my theme song for this week, and the feeling of happiness from the scene in "500 Days of Summer" pretty much sums up how I feel right now, because I have just done it again! Another win for my design set for the "Nordstrom Mother of the Bride" Contest. I am really just overwhelmed with giddiness, if it can really be described as that, and now my mother tells me that maybe I'm looking into the wrong profession. I see a possible future in fashion editorials. Now how do I go about translating that from a law degree?! The world is my canvas, and maybe I can use my sets to make it happen!

My take for Song of Style Me Contest:

Fashion by chicGiselle featuring a cargo

I love the contrast between the snug fitting cargo pants with a light flowing shirt. A chain quilted purse and a triple finger ring are the perfect accessories to make the outfit complete. My fingers are crossed for this fantastic giveaway!! ;)

If I haven't said it already, I will say it again I love Fall/Halloween season!! I think its rooted in the fact that when I was a kid, Halloween just seemed so magical and fun. The decorating, the candy, the cupcakes, the trick or treating,  and the cartoon specials (Disney's Halloween Treat, It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, and Buttons and Rusty "Which Witch is Which").
It is my favorite time of year! I wait like a child on Christmas morning for the release of the Pumpkin Spice latte from Starbucks, the Warm Apple Cider from William&Sonoma, and the start of events like Halloween Horror Nights and Epcot's Food and Wine Festival. There's just so much excitement in the air, and as the weather here has finally come down from the 90's I can finally pull out some of my light coats and trench (especially my trench from Zara that I've been restless to wear, but would have looked like I had gone mad wearing it in Florida with a 100 degree weather.)
The tv line up is almost like a litmus test of when you can really start getting in the Halloween mood. If AMC is playing horror movies, its time to start looking into buying a pumpkin, selecting a costume, and sending out the Halloween invites. Since I am in the excitement of all things Halloween, I thought I share some of my favorite sets done on Polyvore. Enjoy!

Empire State of Mind

Had a missing NYC moment today. The pictures above are from a trip I took this summer. It was only a one day trip into the city, but I loved every moment even thought it was sweltering! Now that it's October I would love to make another trip to this great city, take in more of the Met, visit friends, and of course go shopping.
